Hello Songwriters
Hope this finds you healthy and happy as we start this new year. Unfortunately because of the weather we have missed both the Dec. and Jan. meetings. Although we didn't meet as a group, the board has been meeting and working on a plan to make the coming year the best yet. There will be more coming from the board in the next week but we are coming up on an event that I want to make sure you have time to work into your schedule. The event that we got the most feedback on this year was the symposium. With that in mind we thought we would start this year with this work shop to allow you to continue taking your art to the next level. The instructors of this workshop are Ruth Carter, Bill Carter and Austin Cunningham. We will be at the Saxon Sat. Feb 3rd at noon. Bill Carter and his wife, Ruth, have written songs that sold millions for artists of varying degrees. They wrote the only number one song Stevie Ray Vaughn had. It is called "Crossfire". They also wrote the theme song for the KIng of the Hill Christmas Episode, " Ballad of Hank Hill". they have written country hits as well as songs for major motion pictures, such as "From Dust Till Dawn", " The Secret Life of David Gale" , "Once Upon a Time in Mexico". Their songs have been recorded by artists such as: The Stray Cats, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Robert Palmer, Counting Crows, Waylon Jennings, The Derailers, John Anderson, Toni Price, Storyville, and many many more. They are currently working on several television projects and writing with friends. Austin Cunningham has had his songs recorded by: Judds, Dolly Parton, Tracey Byrd, Kathy Mattea, Tanya Tucker, Reba McEntire, Roy Clark and many many more. He also has several major movies. Check him out at www.austincunningham.com. These songwriters are exactly what we were asked to bring to the group. They are long time success stories. They are successful in more than one outlet with their songwriting. They are currently successful in the business. The price for the workshop is twenty dollars for members and twenty five for non-members. The workshop will be aproximately 90 min. After that each of these artists will be available for one on one time with you. These sessions will be ten dollars for a fifteen minute session. These sessions are on a first come, first served basis, and you will need to let me know if you want to schedule one. This will give you time to ask anything that you might want to know...you might want to use this time to pitch a couple of your songs and get some feed back from someone that makes their living doing exactly what you are trying to do. Please make the decision to start this year off with something for yourself. Remember activity creates activity...and you have to be present to win!
