The Austin Songwriters Group will host its annual Merle Haggard Birthday Bash at Threadgill's World Headquarters (301 Riverside, Austin, TX  78704). There will be raffle items, an all-star band with many special guest stars, and activities for the kids like face painting and cake walks. Past guests have included Joe Ely, Sonny Throckmorton, Kimmie Rhodes, and Freddy Powers, Walt Wilkins, Redd Volkert, Monte Warden,Lauren Beller, Bob Cheevers, Will Sexton, Hudsons,  and past band members have been some of Austin's finest performers, including musicians who've played with Merle on the road.  Some of the names we have for sure this year are  Joe Manuel, Casper Rawls, Rick Richards,, Floyd Domino, David Carroll, Marvin Dykhuis, Lynda Jones, Shelly King , David Halley, Will T Massey, Betty Soo and more. We will also have a silent auction. This is a free event that is family friendly. Please come out and support these musicians working to support our group.
