The 10th Annual ASG Songwriter Symposium convenes January 8-12, 2014 at the Holiday Inn Midtown in Austin, Texas and ASG is seeking Sponsorship & Scholarship donors to support the event. Read on to learn how you can help. We are looking forward to a great event and we are planning some surprises this year to mark the 10th Anniversary of ASG’s Songwriter Symposium.
This is also the time of year we kick off our Fall Membership and Sponsorship campaigns. If you have already registered for Symposium 2014, or recently renewed your annual membership, we thank you for your support and look forward to spending time with you at one of the fall ASG events, or at the Symposium in January.
Each year, songwriters from near and far attend the symposium to soak up all of the workshops, panels, publisher pitch sessions, concerts, showcases, late night song circles and more. Over the last decade, attendees have had the opportunity to learn the craft of songwriting from many songwriting legends, including Sonny Throckmorton, Rodney Crowell, Allen Shamblin, Chuck Cannon, Joe Ely, Eliza Gilkyson, Gary Burr, Kimmie Rhodes, Jim Photoglo, Georgia Middleman and Tonio K, just to mention but a few of the major songwriters who have served as faculty or keynote speakers over the years. In addition, ASG has built a solid reputation with many important music publishing professionals to offer access to attendees and an opportunity to establish a working relationship with music publishers actively looking for commercially viable original songs.
Also, each year there are many deserving songwriters who are unable to attend because of schedule conflicts or geographic obstacles. Likewise, there are many who are unable to attend solely for financial reasons, even notwithstanding that the ASG Symposium remains one of the most affordable and value packed songwriter conferences in the country. Many conferences deliver far less and charge much more. Still, despite the affordability, many working songwriters still find it a challenge at times to muster the financial resources to attend.
For this reason, each year at this time, ASG initiates a sponsorship donation effort to build a scholarship fund for deserving songwriters who could use the financial assistance to attend. Each year, ASG is blessed to receive donations from private individuals, organizations and companies which are used for the Symposium Scholarship fund. No donation is too small or too large, and you may donate for yourself as an individual, or as agent for your organization or company. ASG is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization and your donation is tax deductible.
If you are in a financial position to make a donation for the Symposium Scholarship fund, or even to simply pay directly for a deserving songwriter of your own choice as a gift, we invite you to do so by clicking on the appropriate PayPal button at the bottom of this page, or by sending a check to ASG at 3800 Woodbury, Austin, TX 78704. No amount is too small, or too large.
As a non-profit organization, ASG is dependent solely on the revenues it generates from annual membership dues, song contests, workshops, special events and its annual symposium. The annual ASG Symposium is the most expensive event ASG produces each year and breaking even is considered a victory.
So, by making a scholarship donation or sponsoring a songwriter of your choice, not only do you help an individual songwriter attend, but you also help to support the much larger expenses of the Symposium itself and, by extension, you provide support to every songwriter in attendance and to ASG’s ability to continue to offer its valuable programs throughout the year.
Whether you are a songwriter yourself, or just a fan or supporter of songwriters and musicians, in general, if you have the means to do so, we ask you to make a donation today. There are many ways for anyone to support ASG’s ongoing programs. The most immediate way is to use the appropriate PayPal options below to either donate to the Symposium Scholarship fund, or directly sponsor a songwriter of your choice by gifting the registration to them. Other ways you can provide support, either now or throughout the year, are:
All contributions to support ASG are greatly appreciated, no matter how small or large. As ASG is a 501(c)(3) organization, your contributions are also tax deductible. ASG has been blessed time and again through the years by unexpected donations that came in just at the right time, and we know that if we keep ourselves focused on providing great value to songwriters and to the Austin community, that ASG will be taken care of in the process.
If you feel moved to support ASG in its ongoing efforts and would like to make a Symposium Scholarship donation, sponsor a songwriter to attend Symposium 2013, or simply become a member or corporate sponsor, you may do so by through on the payment options below.
If you are a potential corporate sponsor, please contact ASG Executive Director, Lee Duffy by phone at 512.698.4237, or by email at: firstname.lastname@example.org to discuss sponsorship opportunities for any of ASG’s many special events throughout the year.
