Texas musicians are known for their writing the world over. The greatest of the Texas songwriters often write with a literary bent, with many of the finest Texas songs rivaling great literature. Influenced by the origins of poetry, the great Texas songwriter tradition oftentimes convey lyrical ideas using poetic means. From “Still Is Still Moving To Me” by Willie Nelson to “Here’s To The Trains I Missed” by Walt Wilkins and from “Everything’s Been Sold American” by Kinky Friedman to “I Found The Lions” by Terri Hendrix, the lyrics of a great song can call us to a deeper experience of life.
