This year’s lineup is one of the best ever with an amazing house band that includes Redd Volkaert, Joe Manuel, Marvin Dykhuis, Ernie Durawa, Marali Coryell, Robert Cross and Stephen Doster, along with performers Will Callery, Bill & Louise Kirchen, Will T. Massey, Bob Cheevers, Dave & Anne Ducharme-Jones, Lee Duffy, Rick Busby, Beth Lee, Rusty Nelson, Teresa Neal, Jim Heckroth, Lauren Beller, Erin Norris, Johnny Harbour, Gregg Miller, Darwin Smith, Charlie Irwin, Sonya Rae Taylor, Adam Belsky, Craig Marshall, Elizabeth McQueen, Peggy Wright, Richard Howard, Patti Dixon, Phil Wildman and other Special Guests.

As you may know, the 9th Annual Merle Haggard Birthday Party scheduled for Sunday, April 6th was postponed due to rain. The new date is set for Sunday, April 27th from 3-7 PM in the beer garden at Threadgill’s World Headquarters. While postponements can be a disappointment, the reschedule has allowed us to expand the lineup for the new date, including the return of Joe Manuel to the house band lineup after missing last year while on the road with George Strait. Joe and Redd Volkaert have both done long tours of duty with Merle Haggard and having both of them anchoring the house band always makes for a great show. Make your plans right now to be there to help us celebrate the music of Merle Haggard on Sunday, April 27th.

The annual event is co-sponsored by ASG and the Texas Songwriters Association and, in addition to an afternoon of Merle music performed by some of Austin’s finest musicians and singer-songwriters, the event features a silent auction with proceeds not only helping to pay for the annual event, but also to support ASG’s ongoing songwriter programs throughout the year.

If you are an ASG Member, or a fan supporter, we need silent auction items. If you or your business would like to participate in supporting ASG, bring your silent auction donations to the event and help us to raise money for ASG’s 2014 programs to support songwriters.

Tickets are $10 at the door and children are admitted free with parents or adult guardians.
